Review of Terminator Salvation
“Create in me a clean heart o God” Psalm 51

Wednesday, I was in Lansing for a couple of meetings that required an over night stay. As Thursday was the opening night for Terminator Salvation, and I was bacheloring the evening I decided to catch the midnight premier. Whist the film was a bit long, I was not disappointed. The action was rather intense. I enjoyed the Christian Bale as John Connor. But I was really pleased with Bryce Dallas Howard performance.
Spoiler alert! The transplant scene was a bit hooky, but it reminded me of the picture above. I got into this interesting debate with a mentor regarding the evangelical doctrine of regeneration. I though his description better fit with justification - happening in the instance that a person accepts Jesus (therefore the process of regeneration is heavily dependent on a believers response to God). However, I see regeneration being more closely related to sanctification and David’s psalm “Create in me a clean heart”. The very heart of Christ is transplanted into the new believer and the Spirit then helps us grow aquatinted to this new heart, thus regenerating us into a new people.
Perhaps the Salvation of the Terminator echos the Heart Transplant that God has in store for all of us.
