Shorts: Our family movie day

This morning Julie planed a little family fun day trip to the movies.  Watching the previews online from the comfort of the master bed the entire team selected Paul Rodregez’s new film, Shorts.

The Celebration Cinema website indicated that the film was showing at 2:40p http://tinyurl.com/kkgch6. This was going to be a perfect time, if we planned Tsipporah’s nap carefully.  Everything was going five by five; until we arrived at the Cinema in Benton Harbor at 2:35p.  Upon my arrival the cashier informed me that next showing was at 4:55p not 2:40p.  This really ruined everything.  After I showed her via my iPhone that Fandago.com indicated that Julie was correct, all the attendant could say was that Celebration Cinemas didn’t support Fandago.com. Julie was furious because she had planed our whole day from data that she acquired from the Celebration Cinema’s website not fandango.com. Seeing the steam begin to emerge from Julie’s ears the attendant was wise to offer us free tickets to the next showing.

So we went shopping and got a bite to eat.  When we returned for our viewing of Shorts. The theatre was terrific at least through the previews, but once the film began there was audio but no picture.  We had to wait a full 30 minutes for things to get fixed.  So for our trouble when we left the theatre we were presented with four more free passes for our trouble. God is good.

The film was great.  I highly recommend it for all ages.  There were great discussion starters about power, instant gratification, bullying, friendship, technology and miscommunication.  I was impressed by all the child actors but the character Helvetica Black was a real stand out.  James Spader was outstanding as he channeled Steve Jobs.
